Memorial Day Remember and Honor

Nutley’s Memorial Day Weekend activities will kick off on Saturday, May 23, with the Nutley Historical Society’s “A Walk in the Park.” Museum director John Simko will lead the tour, which begins at 10:00 a.m. in Memorial Park at the WWI monument near the train trestle.

The tour will travel along the Yantacaw River as Mr. Simko shares its role in Nutley’s history as a source for early industry, an inspiration for world-renowned artists, a symbol of civic pride, an important boundary marker, and a fitting memorial to our war veterans.

“A Walk in the Park” is scheduled to end at 11:30 at Nutley’s first brick schoolhouse (now the Nutley Historical Society and Museum). The museum will be open to the public, and tour-related items from the museum’s archives will be on display. Please join us at the Nutley Museum (65 Church Street) at 11:30 Sunday morning, even if you are not part of the tour.

“A Walk in the Park” is free; however, the tour is limited to 15 people and requires registration. To register, email johnsimko1014@gmail.com or call 973-752-8984 and leave a message with your phone number or e-mail address. Confirmation will be sent out via e-mail, text, or phone.
