“Following the incorporation of the town of Nutley by the State Legislature on March 5, 1902, a Council form of government was set up.

 

On Tuesday, April 8, 1902, the following Councilmen were elected:

James Gilmore, Councilman at large (Mayor)

First Ward: William H. De Vausney, Lester Kierstead

Second Ward: Wilson G. Kierstead, William F. Dittig

Third Ward: John J. Vossler, Philip J. Young.”

 

The present Commission form of government was adopted by Nutley on March 26, 1912. Three commissioners were elected: Abram Blum, Mayor; Henry T. Lefferts and Arthur R. Carr.
